Calabar match-days are calm and security visibility is high at every gate. The highest-risk windows are 60 minutes before kickoff at the turnstiles and 30 minutes after full time at the car-park exits. Red Cross medics staff Super Eagles and NPFL fixtures.
- Body and bag search at every gate. Allow 2 minutes per checkpoint.
- Keep cash split across two pockets. Pickpockets target the turnstile crush.
- Do not wear away colours in the Home End. Security will move you for your own safety.
- Red Cross at Main Stand gate; first-aid at each stairwell.
- Phones fine everywhere except at security checkpoints.

Historical Significance
U.J. Esuene Stadium opened in 1976 as the South-Eastern State Sports Complex, named after Udoakaha Jacob Esuene, the military governor who commissioned it. The ground served as the primary NPFL venue for Calabar clubs across the 1980s and 1990s and hosted occasional Super Eagles qualifiers throughout the 2000s. Cross River State Government funded a full 2016 refurbishment that replaced the pitch, rebuilt the changing rooms, rewired the floodlighting, and modernised the media facilities. The refurbishment took the stadium back to CAF Category 3 standard and returned it to the regular NPFL and Super Eagles rotation.
