About the club

Aduana Stars FC is a Ghana Premier League club from Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region, founded in 1985 by Adu Ansah. The club reached the top flight in 2008 and won the GPL at the first attempt in 2009–10. Two further league titles followed in 2017–18 and 2022–23, taking Aduana into CAF Confederation Cup group stage football on multiple occasions. The club plays at Nana Agyemang Badu Park, a 5,000-capacity ground named after the Dormaa traditional state. Ownership sits with Nana Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene, which anchors Aduana inside Dormaa civic and cultural life. The Ogya Boys nickname, Ogya meaning fire in Twi, captures the club's reputation for intensity on home turf.

Founded by Adu Ansah, a local businessman from Dormaa who formed the club as a community side before it rose through the lower tiers to reach the GPL in 2008.

help Frequently Asked Questions

How many GPL titles has Aduana Stars won? add
Aduana Stars have won the Ghana Premier League three times: 2009–10, 2017–18 and 2022–23. They remain one of the few Ghanaian clubs to win the GPL in their debut top-flight season, which they did in 2009–10.
Where does Aduana Stars play? add
Aduana play at Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro, a 5,000-capacity stadium named after the Dormaa traditional state. The ground is known for a tight, loud home atmosphere, which has been central to the Ogya Boys reputation in the GPL.
Who owns Aduana Stars? add
The club is owned by Nana Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene and traditional monarch of the Dormaa State. This ownership structure is similar in form to Asante Kotoko's relationship with the Asantehene, tying Aduana to a Ghanaian traditional authority rather than a corporate owner.
What does 'Ogya Boys' mean? add
Ogya is the Twi word for fire. The nickname reflects the club's intensity at Nana Agyemang Badu Park and its rapid rise, winning the GPL in its debut top-flight season in 2009–10. The yellow-and-red kit echoes the fire theme.
Has Aduana Stars played in CAF competitions? add
Yes. Aduana have played CAF Champions League qualifiers following their 2009–10 and 2017–18 league titles, and reached the CAF Confederation Cup group stage on multiple occasions. Notable group stage campaigns include 2017–18, where they recorded strong home results.
Who is Yahaya Mohammed? add
Yahaya Mohammed is Aduana Stars' record goalscorer and the most identifiable player in club history. He won three GPL titles with the club (2009–10, 2017–18, 2022–23) and the Golden Boot in 2017–18 with 17 goals, making him one of the GPL's most decorated strikers of the 2010s.
How much do Aduana Stars players earn? add
Aduana Stars player salaries sit between roughly GHS 7,000 and GHS 30,000 per month for the senior squad, publicly reported in line with Ghana Premier League norms. Top earners and Black Stars internationals can be above that range with appearance bonuses. These figures are competitive within the GPL but well below North and South African club wages.
